I dunno. Last year was pretty fucking epic. This year would have to be damn amazing to top it.
I had so much fun last year that I actually fell asleep at my computer one night instead of going home to sleep. I've never done that at any lan ever.

You do what you can, put in a few hours at the event, and help setup/teardown if you can.

Setup: Set up network, posters, registration, etc.
Event: Depends what you are signed up for, tournaments, registration, security, etc
Teardown: Take down the network, do sign-outs (security as event ends)

Just so no one who wants to volunteer is going in with false pretenses. The clean up on the final day is legendary. Attendees have no regard for the people that have to clean that place up year after year and it shows. Zeromus can attest to how bad it was last year. At one of the many rows of tables my friend and I actually found pictures of women from the peelers next to a giant wad of rock hard toilet paper. On the upside they basically feed the volunteers all weekend and if you send an email when they put the call out for volunteers and are on the list when it comes time for the event you can get something (case, power supply, software) after all the clean up is done. So there is good and bad to be had by pitching in. One thing you may want to avoid is pulling a 48 day coming into the last day. I basically didn't sleep all saturday and sunday and ended up cleaning up until 8 that night. Was pretty wasted monday and tuesday and was pretty rude and grouchy to my amigos sunday night when I got back to the hotel.

This is different how??

Yeah the clean up is alot but for what you get out of it, some free food, stuff, appreciation from the Frag staff, and ONE KICK ASS LAN PARTY,; it's all worth it. More hands make less work. I just look at the mess and think lots of these fuckers thought their mamma was comin to clean up!!

I must say that GL usually has a pretty clean section ... nothing spilled or really fuck all. Kudos .... (except to you ballz drinker ... yeah you sonofa ... clean up your shit) hehe

I will be making an announcement when the call for volunteers goes out.

We really try and take care of our volunteers, but nobody is perfect. If you think you have something to contribute, please talk to me about it. If you think something can be done different/better, please talk to me about it. There are lots of people who volunteer year after year, so if you would rather talk to them about it, come into our IRC channel and talk to pretty much anyone with a +v in front of their name...and I am always willing to answer your questions. :)
