Re: WTB a TV,
It's been known that Dynex will use Chi Mei panels, the same kind that end up in Sharp, Vizio, RCA, Toshiba, and Sanyo TV's. If I found that the panel was the same being used in a Sharp, I would buy a Dynex just to save money.

If you guys are looking to implement dual-WAN, I won't be able to get the router to you until 6 PM.

I'll see what the IT Lead says, but I am sure it won't be a problem.

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
Sounds like we just got past CSR rigmorale if this Miklos person is willing to provision under residential. Worse case scenario is that it could come back to bite us in the ass if this person is doing something under the table.

Well if you need one, I'll see if I can pull some strings. It is still company hardware, so I can just up and give it to GL.

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
I have two of those at work. They were used a few years back in some smaller offices before they were swapped to Cisco ASA's. They didn't work half bad, but the Dual-WAN functionality wasn't being used. As of right now, they are being used as door stops.

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
If the line was never de-activated, then you will need the modem that the account was provisioned with. I believe the account is tied to the MAC address. I could be wrong though....

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
I am going to say that accomplishing such a task won't be easy unless everyone turns off every auto-updater known to existence and kill P2P clients. The questions are; How many people are willing to do so, and are you willing to enter in x amount of torrent tracker site into a HOSTS file?

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
Well, I don't even know if MLPPP would work with iCentre. The only DSL company that I know of that supports MLPPP is TekSavvy. Most dual-WAN routers just support load balancing and fail-over support. MLPPP doubles the bandwidth, where load balancing does not.

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
Multilink Point-To-Point Protocol, basically modem-bonding so that you get 2x the bandwidth. The same technology was used in dial-up using two phone lines and two exact same modems.Dolphin wrote:I don't even know what that is.

I'm curious...Dolphin wrote:If you guys are interested I can probably get us a 6mb/1mb ADSL connection for a hell of a lot less.
6mb is the fastest we have though.
Is it through TekSavvy?

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
Screaming at a Tier 1 agent to get them to provision a residential line at a business is just plain stupid. The agent won't falter from that policy unless he or she wants a reprimand. Unless you know of an installer that can get past the Tier 1 rigmarole, you won't get a residential line installed i...

Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
I think that problem has been mentioned a few times, but there wasn't any effort made to address it. Hopefully it will be taken into consideration this time around. Torrents won't be the only problem, as Steam will auto-update everyone's game installs unless the user has set it to manually update. I...
