it depends, there are two kinds of prices
sometimes sponosors like Intel and nVidea send over a graphics card or CPU as loot
sometimes they send over keyboard dusters
so those prizes are free
there are also the kind where you go and buy something with the proceeds and it is won, which lowers profit and makes fees go up

I would rather pay a lower fee and have a chance at winning a keyboard duster, than pay a higher fee and have a chance at winning something the organizers paid for. Both scenarios only give me a "chance" at winning.
