FS - Nikon DSLR Lenses $200 OBO

Post by Latency »

I am wishing to purchase a new lens for my Nikon DSLR. I want something with VR (Vibration Reduction) and am looking looking specifically at the 18-200 VR. So because I am covering a lot of focal range, I have little need for my existing lenses.

So I have for sale 2 Nikon lenses. I want to sell them as a package.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm (Kit lens)
Nikon AF Nikkor 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Super Zoom (Warning, it's huge when fully extended .... maybe 1 ft long)

Both for $200 OBO

You sure you don't want 300 anymore?

There have been so many times already this christmas season I could've used 300+ lense! :)

Which is why I am looking at buying a 500mm lense. :)

Just in case you didn't think it all the way through.

Yeah, I know JR. I am torn. I will probably just not sell this and get the 10-20mm Sigma Wid Angle. The 300 is nice to have. I know it came in real handy at Jasmine's Xmas concert. I too want a 500mm but I don't have 5K to blow :). But then I want VR and I like the fact I don't have to always swap lenses on the fly. It's a tough decision. If money was not a factor it would be easy :).

I the perfect world, I would have the following:

Nikon 12-24mm Wide Angle ($1000)
NIkon 18-200 VR ($750)
NIkon 200-400 ($5700)
Intel Celeron 300A @ 500Mhz / Epox Mainboard / 64MB PC100 SDRAM / 3DFX Voodoo 2 / 19" Viewsonic @ 200Hz / 150GB WD Velociraptor / Lian-Li Case / Windows 98

LOL, that is exactly where I needed the extra zoom, was the kids concerts this year.

I am looking at Fixed 500 lenses... as I cannot afford 5000 to blow either.

For Example.

That is assembled for 1000mm in that picture, you remove a 2x adaptor and it is about 3/4 or 2/3 of that length. hehe.

I am not sure of the quality of that lens though. For that price ... wow ....

FIxed (prime) lenses are usually awesome quality though, but th echeapest i have found for my Nikon is a 300mm for $1200.

EDIT:

Wow, haha, that is one shitty lens JR. Beware of it at all costs. The spec are horrible:

• Angle of View: 5°
• Minimum Focus Distance: 33 ft.
• Focus Modes: Manual focus
• Aperture: f/8.0 - f/32.0

I highly doubt I would purchase Opteka made lenses... they seem ok with lense cleaners, but I meant that as an example on fixed lenses, I came across some reasonbly price Zuiko lenses that aren't fixed.

Never heard of that brand. I have only heard of Sigma, Tamron, and Tokina in regards to 3rd party lens makers.

What setup do you have right now JR?

Zuiko is to Olympus, what Nikkor is to Nikon... So since you do not have an Olympus DSLR, you won't see or need to know of Zuiko.

Olympus E-Volt 410
Zuiko ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6
Zuiko ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6

No, afraid not.

I've done night time shots.

And that Panarama I posted a while back, mostly all done with the 150mm lens @ 150mm

Yeah, but I don't like the build quality of Canon DSLR's, hence why I chose Nikon. And they make them way too small too. I play with a Canon Digital Rebel at work on a regular basis and my fingers get cramped after 15 minutes of use. No doubt the actual image quality is good though. As far as lens selection goes, each brand has there most popular that cover a wide range of focal lengths. The lenses you mention for Canon are the cookie cutters that everyone seems to own when they have a Canon DSLR. The same can be said for Nikon users:

Nikkor 12-24mm
Nikkor 50mm F1.4 (freaking cheap and excellent lens for portraits)
Nikkor 18-70mm
Nikkor 70-300mm

well ya the rebels are small, they're entry level, go up to the 40d, 5d, or mark 3 1ds and they're pretty massive. The d40x and xti are basically the same. what body do you shoot with?
