Re: LF Cheap --- Dead Xbox 360

That is precisely what I want a dead one for, is the Optical Drive.

I have one but it is in storage. If you can hold out for a bit I should be able to dig it out for you.

What happened with MS? They're supposed to warranty that shit for 3 years, and I bought it 2.5 years ago.SneakyBastard wrote:Mine died recently...three red lights..and of course im out of warranty. how much are you offering?
Re: LF Cheap --- Dead Xbox 360
Dolphin is right, if you have a less than 3 year old unit, try and get it fixed, they will replace it, not like it will be the same unit repaired.
they replace mine altogether.
But judging from kijiji and such.
I was thinking $30, $40 tops.
Most people offer about $20-$30 for dead units.
I am not going to repair it and make money or anything, I just want the optical drive... and it will be removed and put in my xbox.
so I don't want to spend a whole lot for a lone optical unit.

Is there some bullshit preventing you from using a standard optical drive?

Haha, hell yea.r337ard wrote:Is there some bullshit preventing you from using a standard optical drive?
In fact, you cannot technically swap the drives between units either, I have to hack the firmware in the drive, and have the new drive emulate my drive, so I have to get the keys off my drive, in order to have the new drive emulate the keys.
If they are different brand/model drives between the two xboxes, I also have to have the new drive, emulate the brand/model of my drive as well.

Reason #228 is that I barely every play games. haha
