SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
Re: SmarchLAN 2010 - March 19-21
I have two of those at work. They were used a few years back in some smaller offices before they were swapped to Cisco ASA's. They didn't work half bad, but the Dual-WAN functionality wasn't being used. As of right now, they are being used as door stops.

Maybe we could trade you for some quality wooden door stops?

Was just looking around for other solutions to Multi-Wan Rather than setting something like clearos up, and came across these https://secure.peplink.com/ Looks kind of interesting for load balanicng. Came across it while looking into link aggregation, for another project I am working on. Interesting anyway at $295 US a pop for 2 port wan, might come in handy for a business I consult for in order to balance internet traffic.

If you want a high performance router, there's very little that can beat a FreeBSD gateway with ipfw.... not exactly the most user friendly option however
Other than that, these things: http://routerboard.com/ are rather cool, and can be made to load balance. I've never tried one myself but have heard good things...

The high end stuff looks interesting, but the consumer stuff seems under powered for the internet speeds we have around here. 1 shaw connection can max out the first few units
Here is a question i am am starting to ask while i look around, why do most units advertise 2 WAN with the option to turn 13 other ports into WAN as well. This type of marketing indicates to me there might be something inferior with using these other ports. does anyone know if there is any validlity to this concern

That's for shaw... Let me know who's name this is under and he will make it happen
Nitro anyone?

Well if you need one, I'll see if I can pull some strings. It is still company hardware, so I can just up and give it to GL.

Sounds like we just got past CSR rigmorale if this Miklos person is willing to provision under residential. Worse case scenario is that it could come back to bite us in the ass if this person is doing something under the table.
