just got word back the Cost will be $50 for early registration

I have heard this before .... and it doesnt always work out in practice. Mind you I have had to drive through some pretty damn bad conditions before (BC interior will do that to you) but oddly enough most of the time its when temperatures are jumping between +2 to say -5 that roads get really bad. Brings that black ice stuff ... warm enough to melt the snow and then the freeze makes it slippery....

well, just to set the record straight, I drove my car though something like that and made it. granted, it was not all that long, but yup, that did not stop me.

I have driven though very bad snow, no problem

The only thing that scares the shit out of me is actual freezing rain.
